Kiev is the capital of Ukraine and will host the Euro 2012 Championships final. During the tournament, thousands of people will descend on the city from all parts of Europe to be part of the action.
Kiev is a wonderful city and a great tourist destination but it does suffer from a lack of hotel rooms. There are a couple of excellent 5* hotels such as the Hyatt Regency, Radisson and Premier Palace as well as number of 3* and 4* places, some dating back to Soviet times.
However, in total, they are unlikely to provide enough rooms for all the officials, media and supporters who will arrive in Kiev in the summer of 2012. This will obviously be a problem but there is an excellent solution available.
Throughout the city are plenty of apartments which are available for rent. There are numerous letting agents offering properties of various sizes and locations throughout the city. There are plenty of advantages for choosing an apartment instead of a Kiev hotel.
Firstly, the service will be far more personal with a letting agent than with a hotel. They are able to help you with all sorts of things such as airport transfers and excursions. Even the smallest apartments will be a lot more spacious that a hotel room. Most have internet connection which is very useful for those travelling with a laptop.
The apartments also have excellent locations near the Kiev city centre. The city's metro also enables you to get around very easily. There are plenty of small shops and supermarkets which means that meals are much cheaper than eating out every day as you can prepare food in your apartments kitchen.
Apartment prices will also work out much cheaper than hotels so all in all, apartments should really be considered when planning your stay in Kiev in 2012.
